March 2008. PA Safety Days.   Described throughout the industry as one of the largest venues of its kind in the United States. The three safety events collectively attract over 300 exhibitors annually and in 2007 accommodated 3,000 attendees. Located in areas specific to the needs of the northeast region--these events attract participants from local, regional, statewide and national industries. Originally designed as a method to meet and exchange information among the excavation community and underground facility owners, the events have evolved to include exhibitors, classes and 'get your boots dirty' demonstrations.   May 8, 2008 - Eastern PA Safety Day Kimberton Fire Company, 61 Fire House Ln in Phoenixville, PA Located 2-1/2 miles west of Phoenixville off Rt. 113 (use the Rt. 113 entrance)   June 19, 2008 - Central PA Safety Day Harrisburg Area Community College, Industrial Dr in Harrisburg, PA Located at the Shumaker Public Safety Center (Gate entrance no. 5)   September 18, 2008 - Western PA Safety Day Cranberry Township Public Works facility Ernie Mashuda Dr in Cranberry, PA Located next to the Cranberry Township Community Park off of Rt. 19 (20 miles north of Pittsburgh)     In addition to the program the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) has qualified the PA Safety Day program to receive continuing education contact hours. The hours are offered to any person who is a licensed water and wastewater operator in their 3-year cycle is eligible if they attend one of the safety days. PA DEP will award a maximum two (2) contact hours--each one-half day session is worth one (1) contact hour--to anyone attending the scheduled safety days in 2008.   Arrive by 8:00 a.m. on the day of the event and receive two (2) DEP contact hours. Arrive by 11:00 a.m. on the day of the event and receive one (1) DEP contact hours.   There are no costs associated with attending the class. You are asked to pre-register.
